TBRI for foster carers and adoptive parents.
TBRI, or Trust-Based Relational Intervention, is a trauma-informed, attachment-based framework designed to help children who have experienced adversity, harm, and trauma. It provides caregivers with practical tools based on three core principles—Empowering, Connecting, and Correcting—to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children and help them heal. TBRI helps children by focusing on building trust, addressing physical and emotional needs, and disarming fear-based behaviours.
The Connecting Principles help carers connect with children using both words and actions. A healthy relationship with carers helps children learn how to have positive relationships with others too.
The Empowering Principles help carers think of what a child’s body might need and how to set up the surroundings to help them feel safe.
The Correcting Principles help carers learn how to teach children important social and emotional skills such as handling big feelings. It also teaches caregivers how to respond in a healthy way when dealing with challenging behaviours.
Our TBRI experts will not only provide information about attachment and trauma, but will more importantly give you practical tools to help your child achieve higher levels of their potential. These research-driven tools will be of great interest to those in foster care, adoptive parenting, education, and any situation involving children who have experienced traumatic dysfunction.
This event will be held at The All Nations Centre in Cardiff from 10 AM to 4 PM. A light lunch will be provided. Childcare will be available for children up to age 12.
