We have a team of leaders who have experience with the fostering world and the church world. 

Bryan Elliott

CEO/Founder

Bryan began his professional career in radio and advertising before transitioning first to university student ministry, and later church leadership. He pastored Capital City Church in Cardiff and Hope Church in Bedwas (Wales) for a total of 13 years, and is passionate about bridging the gap between local churches and the communities that surround them. 

In 2016 he and his wife, Misty, and their ministry team launched the first Starfish KIDS Camp in the United Kingdom. Bryan has a BA in Communications and a Masters Degree in Theological Studies. 

Misty Elliott

Camp Development/Founder

Misty oversees camp development and is responsible for onboarding, supporting, and resourcing new and existing camps. She was one of the original directors of the first camp in the UK, and comes with over 25 years of experience in church leadership and childrens’ ministry. In addition, she is a certified TBRI practitioner and serves as the international ministry leader for For the Children. She holds a BA in music education, has four adult children and three grandchildren, and lives with her husband, Bryan, in South Wales. 

Abi Williams

Church Engagement Lead

Abi oversees church engagement and is responsible for identifying, recruiting, and supporting local churches throughout the UK that are well-suited for hosting Starfish KIDS Camps. Abi was part of the original team that started the first Starfish KIDS Camp, and brings decades of experience in church and charity leadership and service. She is passionate about helping local churches follow the mandate to serve marginalised people. Originally from Newport, Wales, Abi has a BA in Youth and Community Education, and currently lives in Cardiff.

Meet our Trustees

Mark and Kathy Winston

Trustees

Kathy and Mark have been involved with the first UK Starfish KIDS Camp from its start in 2016 and serve as Grandma and Grandpa.

Kathy has a background in nursing, health visiting and early years education as well as having a diploma in counselling; Mark worked as a consultant psychiatrist based in Merthyr Tydfil for 22 years until retirement in 2017.

They now provide regular childcare for their preschool grandchildren. They are longstanding members of Rhiwbina Baptist Church in Cardiff and are actively engaged with church life.

Clayton and Judith Sandry

Trustees

Clayton and Judith have been involved with The Starfish Alliance from the very outset and are both passionate about the work of the charity.

Clayton is a bank manager and has worked in finance throughout his career. Judith has a banking background but for the last 10 years changed her career, passed her BA(Hons) in Youth and Community Work and is now a full time Foster Carer.

Together, Clayton and Judith have been fostering children for the last 6 years. Clayton and Judith also are involved in church life at Peniel Pentecostal Church in Glynneath.

Alastair Cope

Trustees
Alastair joined the team of trustees in 2024 and is passionate about transforming the lives of children and young people.

Originally from Manchester, he has over 20 years’ experience of working in areas supporting children, young people and families. Alastair now oversees the development of foster care across all 22 local authorities in Wales.

Alastair has 4 children and is an active member of Bryn Sion Baptist Church in Aberdare.
